The Spontaneous Classroom
Improvisational Theatre represents one of the best examples of successful communication and teamwork that the performing arts can model for us. When an improvised performance works, it's magical and contagious drawing the audience closer and building stronger relationships. A classroom is setup much like an improvisational theatre - you have actors, the students; and a theme or topic, the curriculum. Ed Reggi leads participants through a series of dramatic improv methods that enable effective classroom discussion, relationships and overall learning in any area of the curriculum. Improvisation is rooted in collaboration and the process of discovery or what Reggi calls, "being present." Using improv games, teachers learn how to encourage quick, creative and positive interaction between students.
